I am very excited that the paper which I co-authored with Daniëlle Bouman has now appeared in the journal Human Movement Science (check this link). The paper describes an experiment where participants had to plan, initiate and execute a single step in the backward direction, upon seeing emotional pictures. Contrary to expectations, we found that emotional content (pleasant vs unpleasant) had no effect of the spatio-temporal characteristics of the step. This outcome can help to clarify theorizing on approach-avoidance motivations.
The paper will appear open access.
